Erica Chantal Ash, born on September 19 1977 is a multi talented American entertainer known for her work in acting, comedy, singing, and modeling. She appeared on MADtv and The Big Gay Sketch Show before landing a role on the Starz sitcom Survivor’s Remorse.
Ash was brought into this world in Florida to parents Donald and Diann Ash. Both of her parents served in the military causing the family to frequently move including to Germany and other countries. While growing up she went to a performing-arts school in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ash initially had aspirations of becoming a doctor completing her pre-medicine degree at Emory University in Atlanta and getting ready for medical school. But after a trip to Japan where she gained experience as a backup singer and runway model she chose to pursue a path in the entertainment industry.
In February of 2006, Erica Ash secured various job opportunities in Broadway productions such as The Lion King and a temporary job in Germany that lasted for two weeks. Following her time in Germany, she managed to secure a spot on the cable TV comedy series The Big Gay Sketch Show.
Erica Ash was part of the cast for just two seasons, during which she had to divide her time between the sketch show’s first season and The Lion King. Some of her roles featured LaTanya, a crude, outspoken fitness trainer who leads classes with a unique “Chicago-style” approach (such as Chicago-style yoga, Chicago-style pilates).
