Grammy-award-winning artist Cardi B has initiated divorce proceedings from her estranged spouse, Offset, after seven years of matrimony. The 31-year-old rapper is reportedly seeking primary custody of their offspring, Kulture, aged five, and their two-year-old son, Wave.
According to sources, “They have diverged significantly. This realization was the primary catalyst for her decision” an insider divulged to Page Six. “This is a path she is choosing to pursue.”
These revelations emerged shortly after Offset refuted allegations of infidelity. On Thursday, Offset dismissed claims that he had been “publicly unfaithful” after being observed alongside a woman named Pretty Redz at a casino.
“People need to do their due diligence… I was at a public venue, engaging in gambling at a casino with a married woman who is eight months pregnant. What do I look like being publicly unfaithful?” he stated during an Instagram Live session.
Offset’s vehement denial of the infidelity rumors left some confused, mistakenly believing he was referring to his 31-year-old wife as pregnant, which her representative swiftly denied to TMZ on Wednesday.
PrettyRedz, in fact, is seven months pregnant with the child of her late husband, Kyng Rocky, who tragically passed away on June 18. “It’s utterly insane that I have to address this! Please, for the sake of my late husband, show some respect! I am only beginning to grieve! A night out with my family should not be an opportunity for sensationalism!” Pretty Redz wrote on Insta story on Tuesday.
“I am carrying the last gift my husband will give this world! All I seek is peace! If you’re looking for a story, there’s nothing to see here! Please respect all families involved. You’re creating narratives without regard for the impact! Please cease. I’m pregnant too! You people are truly despicable,” she expressed.
The on-again, off-again hip-hop power couple reportedly separated once more last November but presented a united front at Disneyland Paris with their children on July 9.

In an interview for Rolling Stone’s June issue, Cardi B reflected on their relationship and what initially drew her to Offset. “When I met Offset, he was extraordinarily wealthy, and I had just accumulated my first $200,000,” she recalled. “He never made me feel inferior. He always encouraged me, saying, ‘You’re a superstar, watch.'”
His support was a refreshing contrast to a previous partner who made her feel inadequate in various ways. “Once I cut him off and stopped caring about his opinions, I started making videos on Instagram. That’s how I became famous,” the “WAP” hitmaker reminisced.
Discussing the challenges in her marriage, Cardi B acknowledged that they both had their flaws. “We have our issues,” she admitted. “We’re from different worlds. Sometimes I struggle to be a wife. It’s like, my career dominates my life. My career comes first, then my children. Sometimes I don’t realize I’m prioritizing so many things over my relationship.”
Despite the challenges, Cardi B expressed her reluctance to change. “I remember last year when we were going through a tough time. People were saying, ‘Release your album. You’re overstressed. When was the last time we took a vacation?’ And I would say, ‘I don’t have time for a vacation; my career comes first.’ Then my children, and then everything else. Sometimes I feel like I put my relationship last,” she stated.
When asked about the future of her relationship, the Grammy winner described her bond with Offset as a deep friendship. “We think things through because we do love each other. But it’s not just about love; we’re best friends. It’s like, ‘There was a time I didn’t have a best friend or a support system.’ It’s not just about leaving a partner; it’s about losing a best friend,” she explained.
Cardi B and Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, previously separated from December 5, 2018, to January 31, 2019, amid allegations of infidelity.
The couple, who have been married for over six years, share a six-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. Offset, born in Georgia, also has a 14-year-old son, Jordan Cephus, with his first babymama, Oriel Jamie, a nine-year-old son, Kody Cephus, with his second babymama, Justine Watson, and a nine-year-old daughter, Kalea Marie Cephus, with his third babymama, Shya L’amour.
The former Migos member, who has 31.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, is slated to headline the second day of the Hype Fest music festival at Hangzhou Steelworks Park on August 11.
Offset began his career at the tender age of 11 in 2002 as a backup dancer in Whitney Houston’s music video for her single “Whatchulookinat.”
Meanwhile, Cardi B, who is of half-Dominican and half-Trinidadian descent, has yet to release the follow-up to her 2018 debut studio album.
