While opening for AC/DC in Seville on May 29, Momsen and her bandmates noticed the audience trying to alert her to something. “You guys are pointing at something, and I don’t know what you’re saying,” she said with a shrug, before turning around and spotting the bat latched onto her thigh just above the hem of her dress. She then returned to the microphone, exclaiming: “There’s a fucking flying bat on my leg right now. Can someone help me, please?”

The incident took place during the song “Witches Burn,” a coincidence that wasn’t lost on the singer. “I must really be a witch,” she quipped from the stage. After the bat was removed, Momsen assured the crowd it was “fine” and joked, “He’s going to be my new friend.”

Later, Taylor recounted the event on Instagram, saying: “During ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg. In the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing. He was cute, but yes, he bit me,” Momsen added, noting she needed “rabies shots for the next two weeks.”

She also thanked the hospital staff who nicknamed her #batgirl after seeing the incident on the local news, calling it “one for the books!!!!”

Another video posted by Momsen showed her backstage after the show, reacting to the bat encounter, stating it “held on for dear life” and that it “scared” her in the moment.

Momsen and her band are touring with AC/DC on their spring/summer 2024 “Power Up” tour. The Seville show marked the third stop of the 24-date European trek.

In light-hearted response to the bat incident, Momsen posted a photo of herself next to a “no bats” sign taped to some of AC/DC’s stage equipment, captioning it: “Ok… so @acdc has the best crew ever. Love you guys!!!”
